Wow, time flies!

The week after high school graduation I started at UWGB pursuing a nursing degree but quickly changed to math and computer science. I transferred to UW-LaCrosse for my last two years of college earning a degree in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science and a 6-12 teaching degree. I taught high school math and computer science for Berlin, where I met my husband of now 10+ years of marriage. Before we married we moved closer to family and I taught at Sturgeon Bay High School until my current role at NWTC. The change to NWTC came after doing multiple roles at Sturgeon Bay as math and computer science teacher as well as technology grant coordinator and facilitator of technology training for staff. During the change from Sturgeon Bay to NWTC I also earned my masters degree in Instructional Technology from St. Norbert College. At NWTC, I am currently the technology specialist and internal consultant and train all our staff - faculty and support staff, in all aspects of technology and introducing new technology. I love my profession and job. After having the twins I was able to cut back to 3 days a week allowing me to enjoy both motherhood and a career.

Amazingly enough, after growing up near the Packer Stadium and being afraid of animals, I now live on 40-acres and assist my husband in raising sheep, chickens, and occasionally pigs. My husband continues to teach math at Southern Door high school. We now have 3 children currently 4,4, and 2.

My challenge to everyone is to participate in a Family Fun Run/Walk of 3 miles to raise money on behalf of my deceased 16-year old nephew and god child, Jared Gehm. The run is June 27, 2009 as well, starting at 9:00 am. The money will benefit track and cross-country students of Preble High and East High (Jared was to graduate from Preble). The plan is to expand the scholarships to all the Green Bay high schools in upcoming years. You can find out more by going to www.familyfunrun.org or just contact me. Hope to see you there!
