GREENSBORO — Jeweldine Smith Horosko, 78, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010. Her beloved husband of 55 years, Steve Horosko, was with her as she passed.

The family will receive visitors at the Hanes Lineberry Vanstory Chapel on Friday, April 30, from 7 until 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, at the Hanes Lineberry Vanstory Chapel, followed by interment in Guilford Memorial Park.

Jeweldine was born and raised in Greensboro where she was a long-time member of Spring Garden Friends Church. Her parents were the late Wallace and Mildred Capps Smith. After completing her education in North Carolina, Jeweldine worked as a registered nurse in Greensboro and around the world. She married Steve Horosko and traveled with him as his Air Force career took them to Virginia, Michigan, North Dakota, California, Alaska, and Africa. They were the proud parents of three children - Steve, Julie, and Donna. Steve and Donna both serve in the US Army - Steve is a Colonel with Forces Command in Atlanta, and Donna is a Lieutenant Colonel with the 108th Training Command in Charlotte. Julie is a retired registered nurse living in Greensboro. Two grandchildren, Stanley and Caroline Horosko, are students in North Carolina. Jeweldine loved every member of her family unconditionally and drew her greatest joy from being with them.

Jeweldine was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Zenora Smith. She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, and sister, Joanne Smith Suits and her husband, Ray.

The family would like to thank Dr. Amber Reeves-Daniel and staff of Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital; and Dr. Peter Ennever and staff of the Cones Cancer Center of High Point, for their untiring dedication and compassion to Jeweldine.
