Les "Chip" Seaver

GREENSBORO — Mr. Chip Seaver, 43, of Greensboro, died Sunday, November 8, 2009 at Moses Cone Hospital.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church by Dr. Stephen Pressley. Interment with full military honors will follow at Westminster Gardens.

Chip was born April 30, 1966 in Greensboro, the son of Leslie Wellington Seaver, Jr. and Mary Frances Gilbert Seaver.

Chip was a graduate of Grimsley High School and attended GTCC in the Fire Science Program. Chip was a Lance Corporal in the US Marine Corp, serving as a scout sniper during Operation Desert Storm. He was selected as one of five to serve on the Color Guard at his graduation at marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC. Chip attended First Baptist Church and loved the outdoors as shown by his feat of reaching the summit of Mount Rainier in Seattle, Washington. Most of all, Chip was a devoted father to his children, Kaitlyn and Dillan. Chip was a 14 year Greensboro Firefighter assigned to NC U.S.A.R. Task Force 6. He was also Fire Equipment Operator for Engine #5.

Chip was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lucille and Les Seaver and Thomas Ray and Fay Feageans Gilbert.

In addition to his children, Chip is survived by his wife, Kyra W. Seaver; father, Les W. Seaver-Davis of Cambodia ; mother, Mary Gilbert Eanes and husband Jim of The Villages, FL; sister, Scottie Seaver of Greensboro.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, 6 - 8 p.m., at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm St. Chapel.
