It was great to see all of you...My, how time has gone by. We had a great turnout..hard to keep up with everyone! So many people.

By appearances,I think I can speak for all that they had a great time! Huge crowd!! A special thank you to PHERBY who "instigated" this event. All of you on the committee were a joy to work with..I guess that's what made it such as success!

I also want to thank the "spouses" who supported those of us by attending the reunion.

Keep in touch by using this site! Those of you who didn't make it.. there is always our 35th or 40th!
Again, it was GREAT to see all of you and hope to continue to see you on this SITE!!

I got a couple of emails from folks as disappointed I didn't attend & asking me what happened. I had been in communication with Pherby & Karl the last couple of months about a dear friend of mine dying of Cervical cancer. She is probably going to pass on any day now. I had hoped Pherby & Karl might be able to let everyone know.

I sooooooooooooooooo wanted to come but could not. I wanted this to be the best reunion ever so badly that I was the one (anonymously) who paid for those who could not afford to come to not let $ be the issue. I'm not announcing this for my benefit but so that you all could see I truly did plan on attending! I really did want to come! I missed you all & had a very rough day & night yesterday not being able to attend plus dealing with everything I am dealing with. I almost ran to the airport two or three times before Friday & Saturday morning.

I hope to get swamped with pictures & even phone calls (number in Profile) about what a great time was had & updates on folks.

It's been great touching base with you all. I sent Pherby a letter to share explaining my not attending. I will probably send it directly to some of you who I really wanted to say thanks to for being so great to me in HS! A lot of you made a big difference.

Terri,
Thank you so much for putting the photos from the reunion on a site so all of us can enjoy them. I, unfortunately was one who did not take a camera (STUPID ME) so I really appreciate this and hopefully others who took pictures will share them on the site for all to enjoy.
It was such a great event and the turn out was tremendous. It was such a pleasure to see everyone who could make it! I think the highlight for me was when Pherby and her husband David "cut a rug". Bravo to you two.

Alright. I admit it. I had forgotten how much fun all of you are. Friday and Saturday nights were a welcome reminder!

And no, I'm not willing to confess how long it has been since I've had that good of a time!

Thanks to everyone who participated. Whether you helped organize or simply attended, it wouldn't have been nearly as much fun without you.

Wow looks like everyone had a great time! Wish I could have been there. I ended up getting stuck in Oklahoma. I only get to N.C. every couple years. I'll be there in August and would love to see some of you. I was pretty upset when I found out I would not be able to attend the reunion. Glad everyone had fun! I hope we don't have to wait ten more years. Five more would be great!!!

I was right when I said that July 12, 2008 would be a night to remember. I have attended all of the reunions and this one was the best thus far. I do not think there was a single person that attended that was not enjoying themselves. Catching up on old times or shaking it out on the dance floor.

Hanging out at Ham's was the beginning of a really great weekend for me. There is no such thing as having too much fun!!!! Thanks again to all of you who helped make it happen. Many thanks to all of you that I had the opportunity to spend time with this weekend. We are truly blessed to have such a great group of people in the same class.

Looking forward to seeing all the great pictures that people took. Thank you Terri for setting up a site where we can put all of them.

Hey Everybody!
The reunion was a huge success and I had the time of my life... it was Fantastic! It was so wonderful seeing all of my old friends, and I really enjoyed making some new friends too! I can't wait to see the pictures. I don't know about everyone else, but I would love to re-live that weekend all over again (now that I've had some sleep lol.) I think I probably slept 6 hours total the whole weekend. Let's not be strangers! Give me a call and let's go paint the town "Red & White!" I'm ready to go back downtown where things are happenin'! Maybe Greensboro's not so bad afterall.

Cheers~
Laurann

Hello,

Sounds like everyone had a GREAT time at the reunion, the photos are great. Will look forward to hearing more about it and seeing more photos. Sorry we weren't able to make it, but it was wife's family reunion weekend, so I didn't even tell her about the reunion, because I know she would have wanted me to go.

I'm also posting this note, with more sad news for one of my oldest childhood friends. David Honeycutt's Dad passed away earlier today. My Mom just called to tell me. As most of you know David lost his mother last month. Don't know details yet, I'm sure it will be in GSO paper.

Again, sorry I didn't make the reunion would have loved to seen everyone. I've enjoyed catching up with some of you via this site & emails.

Take Care, Best to ALL!!!

Thanks Nollie for the heads up!...

OH NO! David and Cathie were both at the reunion, althought David's mom had passed recently. I know, by hanging out with both David and Cathie on reuinon night that David's dad was barely hanging on, and they made it to the reunion anyway. Wow...BIG HUGS to ya'll!
That's terrible news... that really breaks my heart!
Life is so cruel... I'm so very sorry again David, another parent, way too soon! It doesn't seem fair!
I'm here for you David, Cathie & your family! Just pick up the phone or e-mail me~

BIG Hugs with Lotsa Love,
Laurann

I've tried to find Lane Peterson for years. Last I heard she was in S.C. and her and her husband owned or ran a limo service. I can't remember her sisters name either.

Hi classmates!

I had a wonderful time at the reunion! It was so nice to see old friends and catch up on their lives and see pictures of their children (and grandchildren). Wish I could have had more time, because there were so many people I did not get to visit with.

Thanks to Pherby, Karl, Carter, Dean, Norman, and all the others who helped put our reunion together. It was such a fun evening and the location was great! I am already looking forward to seeing everyone at the next one! I vote for a 35th reunion! What do you think Perby!

We now have the capability to allow Guest Members to use the site. If you know someone who was not in our class and would like to re-connect, this is a great way to do it! My sister, Missy, is now a Guest Member.

Thanks so much to Mickey McLean for posting Elementary class photos from Ceasar Cone on his "Profile"! I told you... some of us go WAY back and the photos he submitted are truly special! I'd have to dig through my parents attic to find that!

Thanks Mickey!

YAY...I heard from Pherby!!
OK Carter... you need to check in as well, OK?

Hi Laurann,

We left LA on Saturday for a planned visit to my parents' home in AR prior to David's deployment. David left for VA today for a couple of days of training and then will head to Camp Lejeune in NC for 2 weeks prior to deploying.

In addition to the mandatory evacuation by St. Tammany parish where we live, the Marine Corps also has an evacuation in place. We can't go home until the Marine Corps says so. I'm just glad we are here and not in some hotel in Dallas where the rest of the Marines are. It would be miserable to deal with a hotel room for an extended period. The wind and rain from Gustav is just starting to reach us here in AR.

I spoke with Carter on Saturday and he was headed to Gulfport to spend the night and then to decide upon his further evacuation to Jacksonville. I've tried to call him several times, but all of the circuits have been busy.

Hopefully, we'll go home in a couple of days and either assess the damage or bask in the glory of no damage!!!!

Thanks for thinking of us!!!!!!!

Take Care,
Pherby

(Father of Karen Halsey - Page Class of '76)

GREENSBORO — George Thomas Halsey, Jr., 72, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at Moses Cone Hospital after a lengthy illness surrounded by his family and friends.

He and his family were featured in the Ebony Magazine, Jet Magazine, Black Enterprise and several well known books spotlighting their achievements.

George deeply loved his family.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ruth G. Halsey (a.k.a.
