Sherri Monique ("Mo") Purcell, age 53, received the very best Christmas gift of all--her heavenly crown--on Tuesday, December 25, 2018, after a brief illness. She was born into a musical family on August 6, 1965, in Albemarle, North Carolina, to the late Bishop Vander D. and First Lady Fletcher "Dola" M. Purcell. Monique's life's work was inspiring, uplifting, and encouraging to those who have accepted the responsibility of ministering to the hearts of people through music. She leaves to cherish her memories; two sisters, Myra Vanee' Purcell, Greensboro, NC, and Mia Purcell Escoe (Kenneth) Chicago, IL.; one brother, Pastor Vander D. Purcell Jr. (Zalonda) of Greensboro, NC; one niece, Hope D. Purcell; one nephew, Vander Purcell III (Tre), both of Greensboro, NC; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and close friends, and her trusted and loving caregiver, Ms. Barbara Johnson Philadelphia, PA. A memorial concert will be held in her honor on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Bright Hope Baptist Church, 1601 N. 12th St., Philadelphia, PA 19122 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. A musical tribute will be held in her honor on Friday, January 4, 2019, at Sanctuary Deliverance Church of the Living Word, home of Total Restoration Center, 3631 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The celebration of life homegoing service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Evangel Fellowship Word Ministries, 2207 E. Cone Blvd., Greensboro NC. 27405. Condolences can be emailed to sdcotlw@gmail.com; flowers may be sent to Brown's Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park, 3600 N.
