GREENSBORO — Mr. David Holt Bason, 78, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2009, at Wesley Long Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel with Pastor Meredith Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.
David, a devoted husband, loving father and wonderful brother, was born on January 17, 1931, in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Mr. Bason was the son of John William Baxter Bason, II and Autence Andrews Bason. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Willow Mae Bason.
He worked for Green Ford and was retired from the United States Post Office, after working 30 years. He also served in the United States Army and was a Korean War Veteran. Mr. Bason was an avid bowler.
Mr. Bason is survived by his three sons, David D. Bason and wife, Jane, of Danville, Va., Darrell W. Bason and wife, Barbara, of Conroe, Texas, and Donald W. Bason and wife, Pat, of Greensboro, N.C.; one sister, Beverly B. Cuthbertson and husband, Fred, of Gilmer, Texas; special niece, Constance Mae Smithy and special great- niece, Millicent Sloan; seven grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; three uncles; two aunts and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel.
The family would like to acknowledge many close friends at Green Ford and Biscuitville, W. Market Street.
