Who would have thought that Dale Gibson would have turned into a world traveler? I didn't. When I look around my house I have souvenirs of a lifetime of joy absorbing new cultures in my teaching profession. What a world of tastes, sounds, views, and personalities I have experienced in areas as diverse as Trier, Izmir, Okinawa, and Panama.
A whole new world opened up to me after graduation when I went to work at Southern Bell, but fate(Carolyn and Mom) pushed me to enter East Carolina four years later. Although I missed my freedom, my salary and my friends, I succeeded and never looked back. My teaching led me back to Guilford County, to Pompano Beach and across the sea to Mannheim. Along the way I earned a Master in Education degree from the Univ. of Sou. Calif., opening up assignments in Naples and Atsugi, Japan. A wonderful life. :-)
Now that I am retired I spend my time with fellow dog walkers in my neighborhood with my slightly neurotic dog, Mollie. I work at the local ecumenical thrift store, the Habitat Resale Store, the monthly community food bank, weekly visits with my niece, and dinners with local friends round out my days.
Life is good.
