Robert Bob McMurry

Robert McMurry, 68, who went to be with his Heavenly Father, Sunday, May 26, 2013, Rainbow City MeadowBrook Baptist Church Pastors Randy Gunter and Van Lockridge officiated. Collier-Butler Funeral Home directed.
Robert was born Oct. 10, 1944, in Mississippi. He later came to Gadsden as the first rock disc jockey at WAAX radio station in 1969. Robert served in Mississippi and Alabama National Guard. He founded Realty Plus Real Estate Company, Rainbow City, in 1985, and was very innovative in his ideas and ingenuity. He loved real estate and was all about customer service! He served as past President of the Gadsden Area Association of Realtors, member of Gadsden Homebuilders and served with Habitat for Humanity. He was a member of MeadowBrook Baptist Church, where he served in the media ministry and Open Hands.
He loved gadgets, clothes, shoes, popsicles and Corvettes, but most of all the Lord Jesus and his family. 
Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife, Susan Hicks McMurry; loving daughters, Kimberly (Blake) Brunson, Robyn (Lance) Driskell, both of Gadsden; grandchildren (his delights) Baylor and Parker Brunson, and Langley, Corbin, and Jack Fischer Driskell; sisters; Gloria Dawn Chapman (Olympia, WA), Martha (Terry) Wicker and Pat (Bubba) Buehler of Greenville, Miss.; brother, Bill (Karen) McMurry (Canada); and sister-in-law, Marcia McMurry of Miss.; other sisters-in-law, Jackie (Fred) Kaplan, Carol (Ronnie) Lee; brother and sister in-law, Larry and Lisa Hicks; several nieces and nephews; special friends in Robert's life whom he loved very much are Amy Martin, Bill Chance and Realty Plus family. 
Pallbearers were Bill Chance, Blake Brunson, Lance Driskell, Court Barber, Jim Hall and David Brunson.
