Your posted song list is (as so many have already ackowledged!) awesome and will ensure that all 1980 Party-Goers feel the music and fully recall the Good 'Ole Days!
A few other musical thoughts to share...
Remember the song, "Jackie Blue"? That was the theme song for the Shauna Clark / Jackie Olds duo back in Junior High! Every time I hear it on an "oldie" station, I miss them both so much and remember their strong bond during that impressionable time! I'd enjoy having Jackie Blue added to our song list in memory of Jackie's striking blue eyes!
Other fond memories surface when I hear Boz Skaggs' "Lido", anything frorm Willie Nelson's "Red Headed Stranger" album (OK, 8-track!), and even an occasional Barry Manilow or Barbara Streisand!
Nanette's talent show rendition of Elton John's "Your Song" was rehearsed for requested feed-back so frequently in hallways, over lunch, before/after choir, and casually on week-ends in the "hood" nearer Lamar Elementary that I can't help but sing along every word, albeit not nearly as angelic as Nan did!
When the A Capella harmony of Daybreak echoed in private homes during the Christmas holidays, teen-agers posed strategically on stairwells with guest and hosts wide-eyed, you could hear a pin drop. I was so proud of the smiles and festive spirit we brought to our audiences, and I'm still touches to this day at the Soprano Silent Night solo that Nanette blessed us with to draw at least one tear to every eye, including mine!
Of course, I can't possibly mention music and song without recognizing Christi's immaculate play-by-ear-and-touch piano accompaniments for ALL our choir years together! Black Bird was just the continuation of beautiful music she brought to all of us for so many years! I was terrified to step in for her when she was absent due to my primarily classical, hours of practice, limited talent in comparison!
So many more songs pull my heart-strings, force me to smell Lake Tawakoni Summer outtings, feel the thrill of Star-Dusters first-time slow-dances, cry to those firsts few crushed "romances" (no names here!), and tingle to the memories I have of perfect harmony with my friends, both in music and in soul!
