Shannon McCullough

Loretta, Jim Bob and I are not really cousins, but back then it was like we were. His mom's sister is married to my mom's brother. I moved to Greenwood halfway through 1st grade from Barling. Jim Bob and I knew each other before 1st grade. Besides his aunt marrying my favorite uncle "Bobo", his mom used to watch me during the day while Mom did The Books for my dad's shop. I can't believe he and I lived through the adventures we had. There was nothing we couldn't dismantle with a hammer and a crescent wrench, no tricycle too fast, and no roof too tall.

I remember Shannon's dad coming to our class and talking about his occupation....something to do with barges on the river....he told how the cables were drawn so tight they could decapitate a person if one broke....that is the image that stuck with me.....someone getting their head cut off by a cable......not sure what he said after that story!

Here's another either 4th or 5th grade, the play where we did a "School House Rock" thing and Lynn Hogue was the old woman in the rocking chair and I think there was a birthday involved. I think I had one line "The president of what?".

I do remember the talent show, was there tin foil involved with the dance Suzie?

I remember Ms. Childers too, she was a large intimidating looking woman at the overhead. I wonder if I look that way to my students now, but I don't use the overhead. Ms. Malenshek was very scary.

How many notes were passed in the hall's of "upper elementary"? We graduated on that auditorium stage. I was full grown in the fifth grade. I thought I was going to be an amazon woman. I'm glad some of the rest of you finally caught up. Especially you guys.

White ilet dresses for the fifth and sixth grade homecoming and we did have to sell tickets.

Who remembers if Doyle Spires ever got in trouble for hitting on Jean Ann Sadler the new Home Ec teacher who looked like one of us.

I remember the minorettes and being cold during the Christmas parade, and my little blue dress being too short.

Suzie Wallace (Stovall)

i have a picture of the minorettes, i will try to get it posted sometime. yes it was little blue dresses

I saw Jean Anne Sadler recently, she still looks like one of us.

Yes, unfortunatly there was lots and lots of tin foil involved in that dance :p

can u remember who sold the most tickets and got queen?

Does anyone remember what our class song was? I think it was a country music song. Or what our motto was?

What I want to know is "Can John Lentz still make his eyeballs shake?" Can Ben Dolan still dance? Can Barry still do a back flip?

I have had several people ask about what to wear to our Reunion. I am suggesting "business casual" .....it will be hot (of course) and definitely not formal so dress comfortably - you will be among friends!

There is a current picture of Mr. Coan on Chris' profile page.....he looks so natural holding that coffee cup....now he just needs a chalk board and a piece of chalk and a subject like "the affect of immigration on the formation of American labor unions"....haha...he was one of my favorite teachers!

I did so love Mr. Coan's class, glad to see he's in good health.

Does anyone remember eating foods of the world in Mrs. Minor's geography class. I think I remember octopus tasting like greasy Canadian bacon. What else did we have to eat that day?

The odd teacher couple, Mr. and Mrs. Ware. He was so animated and fun, while I can still hear Mrs. Ware in her monotone voice.

I wanted to post this to see who might be interested in getting together for a round of golf either Friday, the day before the reunion or Saturday morning, the day of the reunion. I could play either day. We can decide where to play, if there is enough interest. This invitation is open to anyone who would like to play. Just let me know if you want to play and if you have a preference on which day.

Thanks,

Paul

Everyone should have received their invitations with return envelopes in the mail by now. Thank you to those who have already paid - we appreciate having some money to work with now! Lori Hooten has sent a confirmation email to those who have paid. Check with her if you believe your payment has not been credited. It looks like we are going to have a good turnout. Be sure to complete the online "You - The Survey" which is found on the left side of your screen. We have had some interesting and funny responses so far!

Unfortunately it looks as if we are not going to be able to make it for the class reunion. I am sorry that I am going to miss getting to see everyone and catch up and get reacquainted with you guys. This site has been great and I hope it stays up and that everyone keeps in touch here. Thanks to all of you that have worked so hard to pull all of this together... Hopefully we will get to see you at the next gathering.

Please remember Judy Smoot in your thoughts and prayers. Judy's father passed away this week. I am sure she would appreciate a card or phone call.

Loretta--I remember Mrs Adam for sure. I got my one and only spanking from her too!! First grade! It was because I brought a package of gum back from lunch when there used to be a small concession/candy store on campus. She took the gum away but never found out that I had TWO packages. I can't remember who it was that told on me but I know you are out there! LOL

Another memory. When we were in 5th or 6th grade, right next to the old Dinner Bell, there was a fight that started among some high school kids and it was two against one. The memorable part was that they held one guys face against the top of the chain link fence and shoved it back and forth a couple times. (Back when the chain link had those forks sticking up) I'll never forget that.

One of my favorite memories is the play I was in, Adrift in New York. I still have the playbill around here somewhere.

If anyone is interested, Devin Cochran and I are playing a round of golf this Friday, at Wolfe Ridge golf course in Poteau. This course is owned by Mitzi and her husband. It is a very nice course and has some really nice views on some of the holes. I have reserved 2 tee times for 9:00 and 9:10 am. If you want to play, please let me know asap.

The reunion was really great. My wife and I, or at least I did, had a great time catching up with everyone who attended. There were so many that I know I didn't get to say hi to everyone and I wish I had. Many Thanks to everyone who help put this together. Loretta, that was a great inspirational speech and you did a great job up there. Sean, funny as always and congratulations. It was fun to see who you could recognize and who you couldn't. I figured out most everyone but some I really had hard time with. Again I had a wonderful time and really wasn't ready for the night to end. I was yawning a little and was caught yawning by Julie. Pam, maybe next time we should go to the Sonic and maybe then they will also have A/C for Bill.
Julie, the next time I am in I will look for you around town and maybe see you at WalMart :).
For those of you who didn't make it, you missed a wonderful evening and I hope you are able to make the next one.

Thanks again,

Paul
