In Memory

Corey Sutton

Corey Martell Sutton was born on December 22, 1978, to Marvin Sutton and the late Margaret Grant-Sutton in Hampton, South Carolina. He was a graduate of Wade Hampton High School in Hampton, South Carolina, and furthered his studies at American Military University. Corey served in the US Army for ten years as an Automated Logistical Specialist. Corey accepted Christ as his Savior at Harvest Life Changers Church in Woodbridge, Virginia.

Corey Martell Sutton was united in holy matrimony to Treasa Temeka Brantley on September 22, 2001, in Hampton, South Carolina. Their union was blessed with three children, Corey J. Sutton, Jr. (CJ), Amaya G. Sutton, and Imani L. Sutton.

In his leisure, he enjoyed grilling, fireworks, hiking, especially outdoor cookouts and activities. It did not have to be a holiday for Corey to celebrate, he absolutely loved impromptu gatherings with his family for any occasion. He loved traveling and being the life of the party. His smile and personality were contagious. Throughout life, there was never a dull moment. Corey lived life to the fullest as he traveled through the world that we call life.

Corey Sutton enlisted into the United States Army in June of 2010. He was honorably discharged in July of 2021. In November of 2021, Corey continued his career in the Army National Guard at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

Corey never said his final farewell to her family and friends. When God sent his angels to bring him home, it was much sooner than we planned, but we’ll brave the grief that comes and try to understand. Corey Martell Sutton departed this life on May 6, 2023. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Sutton; paternal grandparents, Marvin Sutton, Sr., and Elizabeth Sutton; maternal grandparents, Lenard and Izella Grant; and a very special cousin, Jakarie Breland.

He leaves to cherish his memories: loving and devoted wife, Treasa Brantley Sutton, Olympia, WA; one son, Corey J.
