She came to the U.S. at age three and lived in Hartford throughout her life. "Bell", as she was known to her friends, was struck and killed by a drunk driver on Friday, (September 30, 2005). She leaves her parents, Vivienne Bell and Alvin Bell of Hartford; a brother, Rodney of Australia; and two sisters, Anthea of New York and Sandra of England. She leaves a host of relatives from the U.S. Canada, Jamaica, Australia and England. Left to grieve her loss are more friends than we can count. Bell graduated from South Catholic High School and the University of New Haven. She was a highly energetic and skilled athlete competing in swimming, softball, basketball and football. Bell was bigger than life. For her the glass wasn't half full, it was overflowing. Everyone who ever came into contact with her, remembered her for her amazing spirit, energy and love. She will be missed more than we can ever imagine. Bell was active in a number of charities and organizations, most notably Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the UNH Alumni Association, the CT AIDS Bike Tour and the Provincetown Swim for Life. Bell's memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15th, at Central Baptist Church, 457 Main Street, Hartford. The viewing will be 9-11 a.m. with the service to follow. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Avenue, Hartford. The Henry L. Fuqua Funeral Home, 94 Granby St., Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
