Richard Daniel McCarthy was born on November 13, 1955 in Hays Kansas. His parents were C. Richard and Florentine (Ruder) McCarthy. He attended school in Hays, graduating from Thomas More Prep and Fort Hays State University.
He married Lisa Moss on November 26, 1984. They had lived in several states where Rich worked in management for Walmart. They have lived in Lincoln, Nebraska since 2016.
Richard and Lisa have one son Matt and two grandsons, Evan and Camden, all of Lincoln. Rich was diagnosed with lung cancer in August 2021, and passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 17, 2022 after a courageous battle.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa; son, Matt; two grandsons; daughter in law, Miranda; sisters, JoAnn (Jim) Jarnagin and Jerri Moore and brother in law Perry Borth; sisters in law Becky (Eric) Legleiter, Penny (Pat) McGinnis; and parents in law, Don and Linda Moss.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Carol and Mary Ellen; and 2 brothers in law.
