Welcome to the Northumberland High Class Of 1968 web site.

For those that are new visitors , Welcome and cruise down the page to see what we have been doing. Come join us and have somefun

2011  We actually had a very casual year with very little planned. We did go to the www.smithPointSeaRescue.com  Fishing Derby. We all had a great time and enjoyed the music and danced some. This year there was great weather.

***Note to all the 2012  The Derby has been totally revamped. It is now The  Annual Reedville Fishing Tounament sponsored by the Smith Point Sea Rescue . New date is scheduled to accomodate Rock Fish in the tournament.

As usual we are inviting all that want to come to evening function on Saturday  May  12, 2012.

We are open for suggestion to other functions that you would be interested in.

If you have a group of classmates living in your area and want to set up something , let us know and we will  post it and maybe some of us could travel to your spot.

What we really want to do is party with Old Friends.

Special Note:  Many have contacted me and inquired about having a formal 45th Class Reunion. This would require more effort than messing around on the  Web Site contacting a few people.  We will need a place to rent and a food etc. They have also inquired about including other classes since some married sweet hearts from 69 and some from 67. We do have guests from other classes on the guest section of the web site.

I need your opinion .............HELP ME! Tell me what you want to do. Yes that is a long way off  2013 but it will be here sooner than you think.

'Thanks,

Ronnie.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Message to all:

We are moving ahead very well but the challenge is there to contact as many as possible:

Please look at the list and call as many as you can. Overlap is ok. I can not tell you how much I have enjoyed the conversations by phone or chat on line.

You all seem to have the sense of humor I remember from "My Best Years"

Thanks and I know we can make this work if we pull together.

Ronnie

Eva is home and recovering. I spoke with her recently and she has enjoyed speaking to those that had contacted her.  Please keep up the contact since she is confined to home most of the time.

Phone # 804-435-6039

Ronnie

Please be advised that Eva is very ill right now and is currently in Henrico Doctors Hospital (Forest Campus) in Richmond. Hopefully she is scheduled to be transferred to the new Sheltering Arms Facility in Mechanicsville for Physical Therapy tomorrow (5/13/08). According to her Neurologist she could be there one to two weeks and then home for outpatient therapy at RGH. She became ill on 4/28/08 with a backache and leg pain, admitted to RGH and eventually transferred to Richmond where the illness was diagnosed. It will be several months before she will be back to normal (hopefully) but we will be at the reunion even if I have to bring her in a wheel chair. I will also try to post updates to all who are interested as her progress is made. Prayers are welcomed! Thanks, Jerry

Dear Class of "68"

Many of you have called or  e-mailed wanting to help or donate to the Reunion preperations. Well, here is the breakdown of where we are on the financial path.

Web site: one year  19.00

Picture frames for memorials  40.00

Tent rental 110.00

Tent rental includes:  Free band,   Food and soft drink vendors (cash purchase),   Beer vendor (cash purchase)

What is it going to cost you to Attend?

Parking:  2.00 per car (not per person)

Gate: Donation  (recommend 3.00 to 5.00)

Food and drinks:  What ever you want to spend. They start serving at 5:00 pm

That is all it costs to come to the DERBY.

Now for the rest of the story.

This is only a recommendation.

Thus far we have spent less than 175.00.

We recommend that we renew the web site for 5 years. By doing so we do not loose the data that has been accumulated and will have it available for the next event (whether it be formal or another casual (shorts and sandals) get together).

This would cost about          $95.00

I have spoken to others and recommend a cover charge of 15.00 per classmate, NOT per person. This will cover the expenses and we suggest we take the balance of  funds left over and make a donation to The Smith Point Sea Rescue from the "The Northumberland High School Class of 1968".

Here is an example: 2.00 to park

                                 3.00 donation

                               15.00 cover expense

Total: 20.00 per classmate, spouse and family (yes family is invited) Included in the 20.00.

The only added expense to this would be your food and beverage. You can eat before you come if you wish.

Program:    Saturday, June 14, 2008

Come as early as you like. 5:00 to 6:00 recommended (food at its best) and time to fellowship with classmates.

7:00 pm we will assemble at the tent for a brief meeting. We will take a vote on what to we want to do in the future and welcome our Guests of Honor.  The families of those that have gone before us).

It is important for you to know that the position of administrator of the web site is available to anyone that wants to take it  over. It has been our pleasure to start it up and have been greatly rewarded by the many e-mails and conversations over the past few months.

Sincerely,

Ronnie Herring

Thanks for the update on Eva Ann,,,,,,,I have and will continue to pray for her. Great to see so many of you and yet I didn't feel it was nearly enough time to have any indepth conversations. It was great to have some time with my bestest life llong friend, Becky C. Jones. It had been way too long to be with her, other than funerals.....UGH Let me know what I can do to help long distance. Would love to help. Thanks again to all the organizers.......and helpers..... Blessing, Martha H. Napier

Hi Everyone!

I'm enjoying seeing all of the photos.  As marvelous as a virtual reunion is, I would love to see identifying captions on some of the photos.   I can't recognize everyone.

Help, please!  All the best,  Priscilla
