What spare time? With all the activities my teenagers are involved with plus an hour commute each way for work, it seems like there's never any time for anything else. My family loves to travel and we do that whenever possible. My wife is Swedish, so most of our overseas trips involve spending time at our cottage there, visiting her family. We try to build on that with side trips - for example, last summer we celebrated our anniversary in Scotland (touring distillaries and trying to drive through the round-abouts in the right direction). My son's Scout troop does a lot of high adventure activities, so we did a lot of backpacking this year to prep for a 12-day trek in New Mexico. Living in south Georgia, there is always something to be done in the yard and garden, but doing that in 90 degree weather makes it easy to justify drinking a good IPA in the evening.

The HGA Father-Daughter Dinners were especially wonderful events. The singing competition each year among the four classes was always spirited. We enjoyed winning as freshmen for the first time ever and then repeating as seniors. My years as a manager of the boys' swim team were also very important to me. I enjoyed keeping statistics for the annual "Aqua Log", cheering on the team members in regular season and conference meets. That also led into cheering for the newly formed water polo team senior year. We'd fill my dad's station wagon with friends and go to as many away meets as we could. Parties at my house on many weekends of junior and senior years were pretty standard fun. One night the baseball team mooned my party and that was a hoot!

Sr. ditch day driving my Grandma's '67 Olds 88 to Glenbrook North and honking through their parking lot. Then the car broke down on the way back.

Humanities teacher Ralph Cianchetti decided that "Citizen Kane" was too important a film to show us one 16mm reel at a time over three days, so he arranged for an after-dinner screening at the school. Anticipating DVD commentary by decades, he then proceeded to talk over the entire movie.
well, I have flashes of moments that I remember. Some good, most not so good. Wasn't a very bright student but got by ok. Things didn't come easy for me as it seemed to for my friends around me. Having to walk through the glass hallway in a gym suit was the most humiliating experience I had to go through being 185 pds (Now 110 :) . I remember a new teacher who came fresh out of Duke University sweating profusely during his lecture. Then another time he had a heating pad tucked into the back of his pants and shirt and plugged himself into the wall and was tethered throughout the whole class.
hmmm...
I certainly recall how much I hated having to jump into that freezing cold indoor pool by the girls locker room(I could barely swim). I thought our theater and musical performances were remarkable - HPHS had so much talent and enthusiasm. I remember driving through the very first stop I came to and Mr. Batista said "Karen, what does S-T-O-P stand for? Spin Tires On Pavement? State Trooper On Patrol? What a relief to pass that driver's test! What do kids do without the driving simulator? Mr. Hieronimus (sp?), Mr. Carmichael, and Mr. Martin introduced me to science. Mrs Sara taught me to write creatively and Madame Sovich convinced me I would never be a linguist!
Working on the Board with Stunts 1974. Also, every musical and theatre-related event I was involved with. Most of all, though, it was each and every friendship.
Well...to be honest, I don't remember much about the 70s! Only kidding. I can think of so many people, events, crazy, silly times, group scenarios that bring smiles to my face. The glass hallway, student lounge, hippies, the politics and news of the times, Ravinia, WXRT, the beach, taking chances, learning about how who I was and who I wanted to be in this crazy, complicate world. Mostly, I remember that I had great friends; some really great teachers; a job that led to a successful, rewarding career; and a lot of happy memories.

I remember my first time out in the practice driver's ed car with Coach Spears. I was driving through one of the neighborhoods near the school when the other road car came at us in the opposite direction and one of our female classmates (nameless, unless she cares to claim it) drove it up over the curb and onto the sidewalk. It's a wonder I ever got back behind the wheel.

My travel to Mexico for a Conversational Spanish course in 1976 changed my life. I returned to college to change my major to Spanish. I spent much of my career advocating for the instructional needs of language minority students in the Tucson Unified School District. This included a two year process of settling a major civil rights litigation which includes instructional equity issues and then a five year period of monitoring school district compliance with the federal order and reporting it to the court. We were able to implement extensive programming that improved the instructional outcomes for thousands of language minority students. This led to my being included in Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who among American Women and Who's Who in America.

I have such clear memories of Lincoln School - yes, we walked in the snow and on the ice! My memories of Edgewood are not as distinct but I can still sing the "Dear Old Edgewood" song. High School, in retrospect went by in a blur. I recall walking in the first day and being handed a copy of the Shoreline. My real formative years were in college. Even though I wasn't far from home (Evanston), I felt it opened new vistas for me. I loved getting my braces off and maybe that is why dentistry called me. Of course, graduating dental school, meeting my husband and having my two boys forever shaped and enlightened my life.

LIVE IN INTEGRITY, HAVE FUN, BE LEGAL BUT DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE RULES. YOU CAN SLEEP WHEN YOU'RE DEAD. BEING A PILLAR IN THE COMMUNITY IS OVERATED. MONEY IS GREA BUT IT HAS A PRICE. DO YOUR BEST. SHOWING UP IS 95%.
Live in the moment and enjoy every second!
As you walk down the street keep a smile on your face, and people will walk up to you and say "What's so funny?"
Enjoy the Journey-- Love Unconditionally
Use really strong tape on the boxes.
...remember to breathe
"It is what it is." "More substance, less drama."
Give gentle eye contact & a genuine smile to everyone you can. You might just save a life 😿
Relax and enjoy. Be kind. Leave at least as good if not better than you found it.
Today is the only day I have and it is a gift. Live it with laughter and joy!
Never take the same route twice.
You're only as old as you feel!
Live life to its fullest! Never give up!
Give, love, gratitude.
Make the world a better place
We all have a part to play in making the world a better place.
Treat people you meet in life the way you would like to be treated.
To be my personal best in everything i do, to treat others like I would like to be treated.
Old friends are the best friends.
We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing
Peace with myself and all my parts
Live in the moment. Focus on the important things.
family is everything, spend as much time as you can enjoying them
If you want to get it done ... do it!
Do the best you can and have no regrets.
Follow your heart in what you do...
Be kind, help someone if you can
Shit happens so live life to the fullest.
Don't fuck it up! Be patient!
Life is like shouting at an echo point what you send out returns back to you.
Don't take yourself too seriously. Enjoy the moment
Live and let live - don't pee in anyone else's pool
Have Faith & Lovr
Make Love not War! Life is short, never squander a moment or live in the past, stay in the present.
The Future Belongs to Those Who Prepare for it.

We judge ourselves by our intentions and others by their actions. Just don’t judge.
I'm just a simple guy trying to eeck out a living in this cold cruel world we live in.
Only connect.
Savor every day, let those you love know it every day, and give back.
Many years ago I read a poem by Emerson which I have tried to adopt as a philosophy of life in which he says to laugh often, find the best in others and leave the world a bit better
Every daytry to get someone to smile.

Keep smiling it only gets better!
Just a reflection…We grew up in a time when many of our female predecessors opened a path for us, but our wave burst the dam wide open. Women of our age had meaningful careers and forged new paths not previously open or welcome to women. I'm glad to have grown up in the generation I did because we were on the forefront of so much change.
