OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, MAY 16, 2008:

JAMES EARL MARTIN Lake Station, Indiana James Earl Martin, age 60, a longtime resident of Lake Station passed away on Monday, May 12, 2008. He was born on July 7, 1947 in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, the son of Earl and Alma Martin. Jim was a graduate of Hobart High School. He then proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp and was discharged as a sergeant. Jim was married to Louise Easley on April 19, 1969 in Gary. Jim worked for over 30 years as an electronic technician for the U.S. Post Office in Gary. Jim was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church, a member of the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Bike Club, participated in the bike run for Camp Quality, and was an avid gun collector.

Jim is survived by his loving family, his wife Louise Martin, Lake Station; sons, James Scott Martin, Lake Station, and Kevin Alan (Erin) Martin, Portage; daughter, Kara Renea Maffei, Lake Station; grandchildren: Samantha, Kyle, Patrick, Cheney, and Logan Maffei, and Sasami, Sterling, Haiden, and Trenton Martin; brothers, John (Rena) Rossi, New Hampshire, and Thomas Rossi, Massachusetts; sister, Carmella Mangino, Massachusetts; and other loving family and dear friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Paul and Dominic Rossi.

A visitation for James Martin will be held from 2:00 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2008 at Rees Funeral Home Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Rees Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Forsythe, officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Portage.
