Fred Higgenbottom (1966)

Georgiann was a highly intelligent, multi talented girl with a sparkling personality and a seemingly bright future.  She was my friend and she was a very popular member of our class of 1966.  I've grieved her death and remembered her with fondness all these years.  We played clarinet together for the Junior High band and she was always several chairs ahead of me (she was much better than I). 

But to pursue any chance for excellence, I finally had to choose between playing B flat clarinet for Mr. Webb or focusing all my energies and efforts on athletics and the freshman football team coached by Mr. Barber.  I chose football and became a starter on the team but kept up our friendship until she unexpectedly passed away.  Our entire class was simply devastated by the seeming injustice of her death and the loss of her physical presence.  Coming up on fifty years now I still remember her with fondness and also a profound sadness for the lost potential the world lost.  Rest in peace dear friend.
