OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, FEBRUARY 9, 2006:
KAREN SUE STANLEY Portage, Indiana Age 67 passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at her residence. She was born May 8, 1938 in Gary, IN the daughter of James and Alice Kienly of Hobart, IN. Karen graduated from Hobart High School in 1956. She attended Indiana University and was an elementary school teacher for many years. Karen also worked as a real estate broker and salesman for Ginter Real Estate Co. in Lake and Porter Countries for many years. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Portage. Karen loved her church and all of its members. Karen always said, "I am a teacher." She taught each and every one of us many lessons on life that we will try to apply and pass on to all. She will be remembered by her family as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt.
She is survived by her loving husband, J.C. Stanley of Portage; three daughters: Amy (Bob) Ruiz of Portage, Dixie (Dan) Roszkowski of Portage and Debbie (Dave) Bell of Austin, TX; four sons: Jeff (Sue) Stanley of Stephenson, MI, Pat (Mich) Stanley of Portage, David (Lisa) Stanley of Chesterton, J.C. Stanley Jr. of Portage; 12 grandchildren: David Jr., Brett, Drew, Christian, Shelby, Scott, Heather, Jason, Jessica, Robert, Jorden and Jayden; one sister, Diana Lynn Kienly of Hobart; numerous great grandchildren, nieces , nephews, friends, and many loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents , James and Alice Kienly of Hobart and her stillborn baby brother.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 10, 2006 at Bible Baptist church, 6659 W.S. Hwy 6, Portage with an hour of visitation prior to services. Pastor Don Good officiating services. Entombment will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. Visiting hours will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2006 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage.
