Marian J. Gaddis, age 71 of Valparaiso and formerly of Portage, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at the VNA Hospice in Valparaiso.

She was a member of St. Teresa of Avila in Valparaiso and was a retired librarian from Jones Elementary School in Portage.

Marian was preceded in death by parents: Andrew and Mary Prihoda; stepmother, Elizabeth Prihoda; and brother, Richard Prihoda.

She is survived by two sons: Donald (Andrea) Gaddis of Wheatfield and Kenneth (Lisa) Gaddis of Bellevue, WA; one daughter, Lisa Gaddis of Valparaiso; three grandchildren: Ryan, Rachel and Lauren Gaddis; brothers: Tom Prihoda and Dave Prihoda (LeAnn Hamby) both of TX and Jim (Brenda) Prihoda of CO; one sister, Susie Stinson of Cedar Lake; numerous nieces and nephews; and aunt, Betty (Frank) Laurita of OH.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila, 1511 LaPorte Ave., Valparaiso, IN 46383 with Rev. Kevin McCarthy officiating. Burial at Angelcrest Cemetery, Valparaiso. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at the Burns Funeral Home, 701 E 7th Street, Hobart, IN.
