Loretta Marie Honchar, age 77 of North Judson, IN passed away Sunday, May 8, 2011 in Valparaiso, IN. She was born December 29, 1933 in Hobart, IN to Charles and Alberta (Gast) Sandberg, who preceded her in death. She was married on January 14, 1954 to Alexander Honchar Jr., who preceded her in death.

Loretta is survived by her son, Alexander Eugene Honchar of North Judson, IN; daughters, Cheryl Honchar (Ronald Tight) of Hamlet, IN, Sandra (Tom) Walter of Winamac, IN, Kimberly Boule (Jerry Riley) of Knox, IN and Jacalyn Schlundt of Winamac, IN; sister, Gertrude “Mandy” Amanda (Frank) Moreno of Burns Harbor, IN; grandchildren, Brittney, Kebun, Lindsey, Arie, Carrie, John and Alexandra; great grandchildren, Kalynn, Gavin, Zachery, Kadin and Jordan; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles, John and Walter Sandberg. Loretta was a lifelong area resident and family was very important to her. She worked as a Meat Processor for Costas Foods.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 10:00 am at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN with Pastor Susan Lahaie officiating. Entombment will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, IN. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
