Gordon Huge - Class Of 1953

OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, MARCH 29, 2016:

Gordon W. Huge was born in Gary, Indiana on October 24, 1934 to Walter and Selma Huge, now deceased. He is survived by his wife Marilynn (nee Nurse) of 55 years, son Daniel (Barb) of Fishers, Indiana, daughter Sara (Tom) Marlow of Merrillville, 2 granddaughters, Amber (Adam) Sermersheim, McCorosville, Indiana and Nora Marlow, Merrillville, Sister Glee Krentz, Cincinnati, Ohio, one nephew and three nieces. Gordon was preceded in death by his brother-in law, Paul Krentz .

Gordon attended Trinity Lutheran grade school and was a 1953 graduate of Hobart High School. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and Japan. He retired from US Steel, 210 Roll Slap with over 33 years of service. Mr. Huge was an avid fan of the Hobart Brickies, The Chicago White Sox, The Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed trivia about Hobart and music from the 40's and 50's. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran church having served as an Elder, usher and Sunday School teacher for many years. He loved his Lord, his family and his church family. Our thanks to Rev. Frederick Lams for all the comfort and Christian love through the last 39 years.

Funeral service for Gordon will be on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 11:00am and additional visitation from 10:00 am until time of service at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6240 Grand Blvd, Hobart, with Rev. Frederick Lams, officiating. Burial will take place at Calumet Park Cemetery. A visitation will be on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 2-4 and from 6-8pm at Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Rd.
