Robert (Bob) Ewing - Class Of 1953

OBITUARY FROM THE NW INDIANA TIMES, AUGUST 21, 2007

Robert Lee Ewing, age 73, of Hobart, IN, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2007. He was a longtime Hobart resident and a graduate of Hobart High School Class of 1953. Robert worked for Local 597 as a pipe fitter. He served his country in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War on the USS Robinson based out of Norfolk, VA and was also a U.S. Navy Diver. He was a member of American Legion Post 54 and the VFW Post 5365. He also served Post 454 as the Commander. Robert also coached Little League and Youth Basketball. His greatest passion was his love of Notre Dame. His knowledge of the University and its football program could be challenged by none. Robert and his wife, Jean, were members of the Notre Dame University Club and the Quarterback Club. May he now ride in peace alongside the Four Horsemen... GO IRISH!

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Beverly Jean Ewing (nee Emory) of Hobart, IN; three sons: Kevin Emory Ewing of Hobart, IN, Robert Allen (Bonnie) Ewing of Portage, IN and David Andrew Ewing of Hobart, IN; one daughter, Dianna Jean (Michael) Boyd of Hobart, IN; two brothers: Lee (Pat) Ewing Jr. of Portage, IN and George (Shirley) Ewing of Schererville, IN; one sister, Mary Ann (Carmen) Cammarata of Munster, IN; grandchildren: Chivonne, Blake, Jacob Allen, Amanda Lynn and Taylor Ann Ewing, Matthew Michael and Jordan Christopher Boyd; and one great-grandson, Joshua Ryan Ewing. He was preceded in death by his parents: Lee A. and Anna Ewing Sr.; one sister, Betty (Bill) O'Brien; mother-in-law, Catherine Marie Emory; father-in-law, Harvey Stillman Emory; sister-in-law, Catherine Alice Govert; and brother-in-law, Harry Moehl.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, IN with Rev. Kevin McCarthy officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 21, 2007 from 2:00-9:00 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. American Legion and VFW service.
