In Memory

Cynthia "Diane" Newman (Donovan) - Class Of 1972

Cynthia “Diane” Donovan
June 7, 1954 – April 11, 2018

Cynthia “Diane” Newman was born June 7, 1954 in Noblesville, Indiana. She was the daughter of Medford & Carol Newman (See). Diane went to high School in Hobart, Indiana where she graduated in 1972. She also attended Purdue University – Calumet and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications in 1979. She met Dean Donovan in 1974. Dean also graduated from Hobart High School in 1972. They were married on August 26, 1978. They had a son, Kevin Alan Donovan, who was born in Brownsville, Texas in 1989.

Diane enjoyed anything outdoors but had a special affinity for horses. Her parents had horses while she was a teenager and she would ride her bicycle 4 miles to the barn to ride their family horses almost daily. In 1980 after Dean graduated from Purdue – Calumet, the couple moved to Kokomo, Indiana where Dean started a 17-year career with General Motors (Delco Electronics). The “family” relocated to the Cincinnati, Ohio area in 1997 where they have been since. During the past couple of years, Diane got back into her love affair with horses by volunteering at a local equestrian center where she was affectionally known as “The Stall Fairy” for her clandestine cleaning of stalls for the sake of the horses and their owners.

Diane is survived by her husband, Dean, of almost 40 years of marriage; their son, Kevin; Diane’s brothers- Lee Newman & wife Sharon; Roger Newman & wife Linda; sisters- Nancy Owens; Katrina Rogan & husband Mike as well as several nieces and nephews.
