Joseph James Exl, age 73, of Hebron, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022, at his home.  He was born in Gary, Indiana on September 1, 1948, to Joseph Francis and Mabel (nee Suter) Exl. He married the love of his life, Nadia “Nancy” Niedbajlik in Gary, Indiana on June 8, 1969.

Joseph retired from U.S Steel as an area manager after many years of service. He was an avid bicycler, he rode 1,000 miles in COPS Cycling for survivors, with his brother-in-law the late Gary Martin and rode across the West to East Coast, he enjoyed fly fishing, and carpentry work, and working around the house.  He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend.

Joseph will be missed by his loving wife of 52 years, Nadia “Nancy” Exl; his three children, Joseph Alexander (Jennifer) Exl, Lisa Exl and Michael (Rachel) Exl; four grandchildren, Chelsea (Justin) Grzelak, Abigail, Violet, and Pearl Exl; one great granddaughter, Vera Grzelak; mother, Mabel Exl; brother, Paul (Judy) Exl; sister-in-law, Olga Martin other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by their infant baby girl, Elizabeth Exl; father, Joseph Exl; sister-in-law, Maria Yeager, and brother-in-law Gary Martin.
