SOUTH BEND - Robert L. Shearer, 80, passed away during the early morning hours of Monday, April 24th, in his daughter's residence surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born in Gary, Indiana, on June 3, 1936, to the late Harold and Minnie (Taylor) Shearer. On April 23, 1960, in Mishawaka, he married the love of his life, Virginia Tuttle. He was a member of Apostolic Temple in South Bend for 58 years. Robert and Virginia owned and operated Shearer's Hair Center, which was located at 1722 N. Main St., from 1968 until his retirement in June of 2000.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Virginia Shearer, along with their children, Vicki Lynn (Brent) Gilliland, Kimberlee Gail (Todd) Fairchild, Bobbi Kathleen (Jeffrey) Hall, and Lance Robert (Tammy) Shearer. Robert was the proud grandfather of 13, and great-grandfather of 9. He is also survived by his brother, David (Karen) Shearer.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, April 26th, from 4 until 8:00 PM in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. Friends will also be able to visit with the family one hour prior to the service on Thursday. A service celebrating Robert's life will be held in the funeral chapel at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 27th, with Pastor Christopher Rowe officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help defray funeral expenses.
