James E. (Jim) Crum - Class Of 1953

OBITUARY FROM THE REES FUNERAL HOME WEBSITE, FEBRUARY 7, 2017:
 
James “Jim” Edgeworth Crum, age 81, of Hobart and formerly of Highland and Monticello passed away Monday February 6, 2017. Jim was born August 18, 1935 in Winchester, IN to the late Buell and Ruth (Edgeworth) Crum. He was an Electrical Engineer that worked for US Steel and then for NIPSCO until his retirement. Jim graduated from Hobart High School and Purdue University. He was a former member of the Hobart Jaycees, the East Chicago Exchange Club, the John Purdue Club and the Purdue Alumni Association. He was also a member of the Monon UMC and the Michigan Ave. Methodist Church.
 
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Magee) Crum; three daughters, Diane (Mark) Mavrelis-Welk of Crown Point, Sharon (Bruce) Lane of Dyer and Carolyn (Tim) Wilson of Cedar Lake; nine grandchildren, Josh (Lauren) Wilson, Justin (Kristan) Wilson, George (Tiffany) Mavrelis, Emily Mavrelis, Jake Wilson, Samantha Lane, Tessa Wilson, Libby Rockovits and Andrew Lane; two great-granddaughters, Aria Wilson and Charlotte Wilson; one sister, Erma (Jim) Ewigleben; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Helen Crum.
 
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Friday February 10, 2017 at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, IN 46342 with Rev. Michael Cover and Rev. Russ Alley officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Hobart Humane Society or to Michigan Avenue Methodist Church or to the Monon United Methodist Church.
