Norma McKnight (Labadie) - Class Of 1953

OBITUARY FROM THE NW INDIANA TIMES, JULY 18, 2018:
 
Norma J. Labadie (nee McKnight), age 83 of Lake Station, passed away at home on Monday, July 16, 2018. She was born in Hobart on February 6, 1935. Norma became a Christian at an early age and was a devout member of the Hobart First Church of the Nazarene. While attending Hobart High School, she met and dated Jim Labadie. After graduating in 1953, she worked at Gary National Bank and Gary Screw and Bolt factory. Norma and Jim got married on November 17, 1956, while Jim was serving in the U.S. Navy. Norma also helped her mother over the years making drapes for Sears and other stores. Her greatest talents were sewing for all her family and friends and cooking for her church gatherings.
 
She is survived by her husband James; daughter Laura Labadie; son Kenneth Labadie; grandsons Jeremy and Eric Labadie; granddaughter Megan Labadie; great-grandson Rollan; brother-in-law Thomas Labadie, Jr.; and her many nieces and nephews. Those who await her in Heaven include her son Daniel; sister Marion Cornett; brother Dale McKnight; and her parents Morris and Mary McKnight.
 
Family and friends may gather at PRUZIN BROTHER FUNERAL SERVICE (2700 Willowcreek, Portage) on Friday, July 20 from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. DIRECTLY from Hobart Church of the Nazarene (1 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart 46342) with Rev. Roy Richardson officiating. There will be visitation at church half hour prior to services. At rest Evergreen Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to Hobart First Church of Nazarene or to VNA Hospice (2404 Valparaiso St., Valparaiso, IN 46383.)
