I just got an e-mail from a friend in the class of 1979 who says, "Class 79 got an invite to attend your class reunion this summer. Are you crazy or what?" So, what's the scoop? Are we merging with the 79'ers?
Well depending on the number of people a larger crowd would be better served at Duck Creek clubhouse. They have food (pizza, chicken wings, hamburgers, hot dogs) and a full bar. Gelsosomos has a back room, but you can't reserve it ,first come first served. Have better selection of food, but only serve beer and wine. If you want seedy I can have them turn down the lights. Then of course there is always the End Zone, they have food but you'll be dealing with alot of younger people. Give me some feedback that was just some options.
What do you think everyone? I am all for meeting on Friday night or for food on Saturday before the reunion. I guess it sounds like John is "the man" when it comes to knowing where to go :) Whatever you think is fine with me - I'll be there!!
I guess most of you don't know but we are having a golf outing at River Point Golf club in Hobart on Friday July 30. If you golf shoot me a note other wise come to the course for cold ones with your class of 80 and 79 old classmates!
Don't know how upscale you want... but Kelsey's has always been able to accomodate functions for the Soccer Club.... nice menu and private area in the back that they did allow you to reserve if you know how many people will be there!
As for seedy bars!!! We have 4 of them.... End Zone....Rosie O'Grady's, Main Street and Mickey's. Mickeys used to be the best, but they redid the End Zone and think that is the best... and don't forget the Brickworks Brewery uptown!! There's always the lounges and Wisecrackers at what we all remember as the Holiday Star Theater right there at I-65/30.
FRIDAY NIGHT: It all sounds good. I think the plan is to meet our golfing friends around 5 at the riverpoint golf course... then off to dinner at a restaurant (yet to be named) for those that want to go and then it's bar hopping the 4 local dives starting with the End Zone around 7:30/8:00ish. Whatever you want to be a part of is great.... but this gives you times and places to find the group. I can't wait! Cheerio!
I think I had more fun at the Reunion weekend than anyone else from the class of 80.
The golf outing was more fun than any outing I've ever played in. All the yelling and beer drinking just completley over the top fun.
The party at Cagnes was so much fun drinking and dancing with proably around 50 of my classmates. I think there are a few great pics of the party on facebook.
The beer we drank in Joe's basement after Cagnes Donna on the drums Joe and I singing. Very loud music. Joe broke two light bulbs...
The dinner before the reunion was fabulous "The Country Lounge" on Ridge road in Hobart. Best filet migon I've had in a long time. Dennis Osbourne and his girl fiend Jill were also alot of fun. Joe and Donna were the best host ever in letting me stay with them for Friday and Sat night.
The reunion was great also. Open bar from 6-midnight! The Hobart cop came in at midnight to kick us all out of there. Lots of huging and kissin, drinking and dancing! Fantastic group of people we have in this class of 1980. Thanks for putting all together Carol!
As we were getting tossed out of the Elks Club we intited about 20 people to come over to Joe Rileys House. 40 plus showed up. We killed a bunch of booze and another 3 or 4 cases of beer. I sang Some Kind Of Wonderful with Donna on the drums and the whole basement was rocking and everybody singing along. It was freeking wild! Again so many people to talk and so much to say and before I knew it I heald Kevin Lovell say "It's 4 O clock. I looked at my watch and it was! We kicked Starsky out last and I remember the defining time of the pary being over was 4:34. Wow!
Burned the candle at both ends of the wick for 12 daya so it's good to be back home in California were the days are short but the nights are long.
