In Memory

Robert (Bob) Maurer

Robert Jacob Maurer Sr 1946-2023

Bob Maurer was born in Abington on October 18, 1946, to Jacob and Betty Maurer. He had two

younger sisters, and they grew up in Hatboro.

We remember him in high school as funny and pleasant… and a good baseball player. After

graduation, Bob joined the army and spent time in Vietnam, where he was awarded a purple

heart.

After his return, through mutual friends, he was introduced to Marilyn Williams (a graduate of

William Tennant ‘66). They were married in 1969. They first lived in Southampton where their

two children were born. In 1986 they moved to Warminster where they lived until Marilyn’s

death in 2020. At the time they had been married for 51 years. Throughout their marriage,

they traveled the world extensively whether by plane or cruise ship. One of their favorite

destinations was the Turks and Caicos.

A beautiful obituary for Bob was published by Fluehr Funeral Home as follows:

“Robert J Maurer of Warminster died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family

on Wednesday, April 26, 2023.  He was 76.

Bob was a proud veteran of the United States Army who served in the Vietnam War.  After his

service, Bob went to work for ACME Super Market where he excelled through the ranks and

settled into his produce manager position.  Bob worked for ACME in Southampton, Chalfont,

Lansdale, and Dresher until his retirement.  He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, entertaining guests

at home parties, Saturday night dinners out with his wife and friends and time spent at his

home in Ocean City Maryland.  Bob was known to be able to deliver quick-witted one-liners

and he also excelled at making people laugh with his other jokes and humorous stories.

Bob will be greatly missed as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Bob is survived by his loving and devoted children: Nicole Lynn Brinkmann of Harleysville and

Robert J. Maurer Jr. of Abington.  He is also survived by his devoted grandchildren Mackenzie,

Riley, Dylan, Hannah, and Morgan and his sisters: Betty Ann Doman (Danny) and Donna Miller”.

Bob’s funeral was held on May 18, 2023, and he was buried with military honors at Washington

Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.
