Hey

Just want to let everyone know it was really good to see you all at the basketball game. It seemed like we had never left Big IKE. However, I did feel kinda old when the kids from class of 2008 were saying yes ma'am to me.LOL

For those of you who may be "On The Fence About Attending the Reunion"

Whatever the case may be, you don't have to be traumatized by the prospect of attending your class reunion. You can come and enjoy yourself, if you keep these things in mind:

Realize That You Do Not Have to Impress Anyone Anymore

Back in high school, we all strived to make ourselves impressive to others. We wanted to fit in and belong, to be part of the crowd that everybody admired and envied. All high schools, back in the day and even now, have social "caste systems". That's just part of the dynamics of growing up.

The important thing to remember is that you have been a full-fledged adult for a number of years now. You should have grown up enough to realize that you no longer need to impress anyone, unless its your employer or those you love. The truth of the matter is that the "popular" kids back then were most likely just as scared and insecure as you were.

Be confident enough in yourself to be exactly the person you really are. You don't have to put on airs or lie or apologize for your life. Be happy for those who accept you and ignore those who don't.

Take Your Sense of Humor With You

Humor should definitely accompany you to your class reunion. That way, you won't allow yourself to take things too seriously.

Stop worrying about how people are going to perceive you. The chances are that most of the people there will probably have changed radically over the years. Learn to take it all in stride and even laugh about it. That football player with six-pack abs you had a crush on is probably balding with a beer gut now and is likely to be as nervous as you are about the response he is going to get.

Come to the reunion with a smile and accept others the same way you want to be accepted. You will be a breath of fresh air, because people are drawn to those who make them laugh and feel at ease.

This can be an enjoyable experience, if you let your guard down and make the decision that you are going to have some fun. Plus I want to see EVERYONE & I promise we will all have a GREAT TIME!!!!

GO BIG IKE!!!

That was an awesome and real posting and I was definitately encouraged by it - I can't wait to see everyone. We are so blessed to be able to have an event like this and to still physically be able to attend. It's amazing how good God is.

Wassup everyone! I just wanted to say I can't wait to see all of you at the reunion. It felt good to see people at the game, even though we got whooped......LOL. But just doing that makes the reunion all worth while. Wouldn't miss it for the world! Holla......Genita

Hello Everyone!!! Just wanted to let you all know that we lost another classmate: Shante' Knox on yesterday night (8/13/08). News surrounding her death is available online at http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?section=news/local&id=6326694.

This is yet another example of why we ALL need to put aside petty differences and come together - because none of us are promised to see tomorrow. So cherish your memories & let's come together for our 1st CLASS REUNION & make more memories for tomorrow!!!

Can someone post what the actual agenda / run down of what is taking place at the reunion? And the dress attire? Is this a sit down dinner type thing? I'm confused. I only ask b/c The posting doesnt actually say what is happening the evening of the reunion...

A fellow classmate, Hector Pruneda, was involved in an accident over the weekend. Currently, he is in ICU. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

Hey everyone how's everything going? Wouldn't it be ironic that the 10 yr reunion that we are going too is just weeks after HURRICANE IKE came through? Isn't that ironic? Well anyways i am exstactic about this weekend. i am so excited i can't sleep. But you know what? it will be good to see everyone especially after 10 years. So much has happened in all of ourlives over the last ten years. We have gained knowledge, wisdom and made some neccessary changes in our life to be successful. Archie, we are good and I would still like for us to be on the cool. can't wait for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. i am nervous because I have made some mistakes in my life and i find myself concerned about what you guys my classmates are going to say when you see me on Friday. But you know what i am going through a transformation right now and it has just started and won't be completed for a while. Kudos to all the single moms that are hard working and sacrificing for there children. Keep it up even when it is hard keep pushing. Claim it, Receive it, Accept it and Believe it always.

c-ya Peace.

For those of you who know Hector Pruneda...I thought I would give you an update on his condition. He was involved in a motorcyle accident almost a month ago. I got an update late last week...Hector is currently in a coma and has developed pnuemonia. Only family is allowed to see him at this time. Please continue to pray for his recovery. More updates will be posted when they are available.

I had a wonderful time at the events of the reunion. Although I did not graduate from IKE, I hold the school, memories, and friends that I met there very close to my heart. The event planners did a greatg job and I look forward to the reunions to follow. SWOOP SWOOP!

Well people, I just found out about this site on Saturday so I have created a profile to keep up with everyone!  I left for Marine Corps boot camp September 98, and I am now medically retired and back in Houston for good!  I hope to link up with some or a lot of y'all if time and schedules permit.  I hope everyone is doing well, and rest in peace to those alumni that we have lost over the years...
