Obituary of JANET MCMILLAN LEHR

Janet Lynn (McMillan) Lehr, age 65, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer.

The younger of two children, she was born July 19, 1954 in Houston, Texas. After graduating from Houston’s Westchester Senior High School in 1972, she attended Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, where she earned a degree in biology in 1976, followed by a nursing degree in 1978 from University of the Incarnate Word.

Janet retired in 2018 after a rewarding 40-year career as a registered nurse in labor and delivery. Besides spending time with her family and friends, Janet had a passion for music – never more evident than when she was playing the guitar at family get-togethers or crafting a spontaneous lyric about her children, all three of whom she proudly bragged about to her friends.

Janet was an unapologetic conservative woman who loved her country and reinvigorated her faith in God in recent years after finding a loving church family at Haven Church in Katy, Texas.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh Dix McMillan, Jr. and Dorothy Jean McMillan, her children’s father, Donald Lee Lehr, and her grandson, Weston Warne Conlan. Survivors include her brother, Hugh McMillan III and his wife, Patsy, of Cypress, Texas, her children, Jeff Lehr and his wife, Jenny, of Cypress, Texas, Marie Lehr and her fiancé, Lucas McMillan, of Fulshear, Texas, and Forrest Lehr and his wife, Amy, of Katy, Texas, and her dearest friend and companion, Cindy Doyle, of Fulshear, Texas. Janet also leaves six beautiful grandchildren, Paige and Taylor Lehr, of Cypress, Texas, Wyatt and Wesley Conlan, of Fulshear, Texas, and Jackson and Abbott Lehr, of Katy, Texas. Janet is also survived by numerous beloved cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at 1 pm at Katy Funeral Home. Please go to www.dignitymemorial.com/support-friends-and-family to leave an online tribute or condolences. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
