Sherry Dawn Nitsch Carter unexpectedly passed away Saturday, October 15, 2011, at home with pneumonia, leaving behind a heart-broken family and many friends.

Sherry was born in Snyder, Texas on Feb. 19, 1960 to Beverly (Carter) Nitsch and the late Charles Nitsch. She grew up from the age of 2 with her mother and step-father Chuck Fredrickson.

She graduated from Alief Hastings High School, where her friends knew her as Sherry Fredrickson,  and The University of Texas in Austin, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Radio-TV-Film. She was on the Dean’s List.

She helped her mother start the “Fort Bend/Southwest Star” newspaper in 1978, and worked there several years, then spent 10 years in Hollywood Ca. working in the television and film industry. She was a finalist in the America’s Best screenwriting competition with her script, “Amazing Grace.” Her short story “The Euclidean Woman” was published in a regional literary magazine and she’s also been published in The Fort Bend/Southwest Star and the Fort Bend Business Journal. She’s written scripts for dozens of local TV commercials and several promotional videos and as Program Director for a local cable access channel, Sherry was responsible for overseeing production of over 3,000 hours of local television programming.

Sherry owned Star Video Digital Productions in Stafford for the past 10 years and was active in the business community as a member of several business networking groups.

She was president of the Investments Build Money investing club, an outstanding contributing member of BNI Post Oak where she served as Education Chairperson;  politically active in the national Democratic party and early supporter of President Barack Obama; membership chairperson of Memorial Women’s Business Network; and generous and supportive of her colleagues in the Houston, Katy, and Fort Bend business communities.

She had a soft heart particularly for her niece, Kathryn Kluge and two nephews, Carter and Jack Fredrickson, and her two cats. She often said that Michael and Lisa had the children for her and she was just loaning them to their mother and father.

One of her favorite hobbies was taekwondo with her seven year old nephew Carter and she was invited to test for her black belt this month but refused in order to wait for Carter so they could get their black belts at the same time.

Sherry was always tender and loving with her elderly grandparents and spent much time with them over the years before their deaths. She was pre-deceased by them and her father and her uncle Vance Carter.

She leaves behind her mother, Bev Carter, her brother Michael Fredrickson and his family, wife Lisa Fredrickson and children Kathryn Kluge, Carter and Jack Fredrickson; her step-father Charles Fredrickson and his wife Maureen Fredrickson, all of Sugar Land, and her aunt, Joyce Carter of Memphis, Tenn.

She also leaves other family: Alvin and Ann Nitsch of Rowena and her half-brothers Skyler and Spencer Nitsch.
