Funeral services for Mr. Robert “Bob” E. Parker, 72, of Carthage, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2016 in the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Hollis Pitts officiating. Burial will take place 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2016 in Evergreen Cemetery in Paris, Texas. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Saturday night at Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mr. Parker died July 15, 2016 peacefully at his home in Carthage, Texas.

Mr. Robert Edward Parker was born September 25, 1943 in Goodland, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of nine children born to the marriage of William Ernest and Bessie Bernice Cooper Parker. He was schooled and graduated in Hugo, Oklahoma and then attended the University of Texas at Arlington. Bob was nominated for the Outstanding Young Men of America Award and served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper. He married Nancy Kay Stallings October 9, 1965 and they shared 50 years of marriage together. Mr. Parker retired from the Insurance industry after many years as manager for Farm Bureau, later as an independent insurance agent owning and operating the Parker Insurance Agency. Bob served as Past President of the Carthage Kiwanis Club. He loved fishing, golfing and spending time with the grandkids. Mr. Parker ran three marathons, the last one at the age of fifty.

He is preceded in death by his Parents and five siblings.

Mr. Parker is survived by his loving wife Nancy Parker, daughters, Kimberly Parker Jones and husband Jeff of Carthage, Tiffany Parker Brown and husband Mark of Carthage, brother, Sanford Parker of Hugo, OK, sisters, Dorothy Robinson of Hugo, OK, Nell Wheeler and husband Frankie of Hugo, OK, grandchildren, Jeffrey Payton Jones and wife Camille of Lufkin, Christopher Bradley Jones of Lufkin, Sarah Kaytlin Make and husband Steven of Euless, Madison Elise Brown and Ayden Joseph Brown both of Carthage, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
