OBITUARY--

Carroll Gene Payne of Boswell passed away on December 4, 2005, in Hugo, at the age of 62.  He was born on August 6, 1943, in Pasadena, Calif., to J. W. and Zelma Lee (Hopper) Payne, Jr.  He was a painter and had lived in this area for the past 56 years. He will be greatly missed.

Carroll is preceded in death by his son, Raphael Payne.

He is survived by one son Michael Ray Payne of Sawyer; one step-daughter Paula Gander of Oklahoma City; his parents, J. W. and Zelma Payne of Hugo; four brothers, Troy Payne of Van Alstyne, John Payne, Bobby Payne, and Ronnie Payne all of Hugo; four sisters, Shirley Smith of Powderly, Texas, Cynthia Larson of Bastrop, Texas, Susie Yazel of Daisy, and Pat Colman of Antlers; and two grandchildren.

Memorial services for Carroll Gene Payne were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2005, at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment followed in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo.
