I actually graduated from Hunters Lane High School in Nashville, TN. I moved to Nashville with my sister during the first trimester of my senior year at Skyline. 2 days after graduating, I reported in to Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, CA for boot camp. Upon completion of recruit training in August of '99 , I was trained as a machine gunner and was stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba until the end of 2000. I then got orders to Parris Island, SC to serve as a marksmanship instructor for recruits going through boot camp there. I was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in July of 2003.
I moved back to Idaho Falls to attend College of Eastern Idaho (then called Eastern Idaho Technical College). I received an Associates of Science in Automotive Technology and an Associates of Science in Diesel Technology in May of 2008. I then moved to Chandler, AZ with my brother to try to find work. There was no work. Remember, 2008 was a bad year economically. I decided to go back into school and try something else. I enrolled at The Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Tempe, AZ and completed the master recording program to receive a professional diploma. One of the graduation requirements included the successful completion of a 6 month internship in the music industry. I chose to complete my internship back in Nashville, TN at Blackbird Studio, owned by Martina McBride. During this internship, I met several musicians to include R.E.M., Incubus, Clint Black, Taylor Swift, Lionel Richie, Alison Krauss, Willie Nelson, Dave Stewart (Eurythmics), Jack White, Kieth Urban, and many more. As an intern, I was tasked with setting up and tearing down their equipment as well as get them food. Because that's what interns do.
During my time in Arizona and Tennessee, I began learning how to build and manage small and simple websites. Later on, this experience would lead me into my career as a digital marketer.
After my internship in Nashville came to an end, I ended up breaking my right ankle pretty badly and I lost my job as a construction site cleaning crew lead. I moved back home to Idaho Falls with my then pregnant girlfriend (now my wife) to recover and get support from my family.
Shortly after moving back home, I interviewed for a job, and was hired, as a website developer at a small marketing agency here in town in March of 2012. I quickly became the head of the Local SEO team and got good enough to go out on my own as an independent contractor in 2014. In June of 2015, an associate of mine, Nathan Hawkes, founded Arcane Marketing and hired me on as his fulfillment manager. In June of 2019, I became an official part owner of Arcane Marketing, alongside Nathan.
And that's basically my story, so far. I married Christy Grover of Rexburg in August of 2015, after dating for 9 years and having 2 children together. We live in Idaho Falls, ID, just one street over from the street I grew up on. My children both attend Templeview elementary and will most likely attend Eagle Rock and Skyline. So, that's cool.
