Brent James Thueson, 33, of Idaho Falls, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2019, from an ATV accident in Island Park, Idaho.

Brent was born on May 1, 1986, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Dennis K and Elisabeth Kerscher Thueson. His family fondly called him BJ. He grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Skyline High School in 2004. He attended Idaho State University, Idaho Falls Campus and Intellitec, Colorado Springs, Colorado.

On November 3, 2005, he joined the US Army, where he did his basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. He served as Combat Medic where his fellow service members called him ‘Doc’. He served 1 tour in Ramadi, Iraq and 1 tour in Kandahar-Afghanistan. He was stationed in Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas, Ft. Carson, Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was honorably discharged on October 2, 2012. While serving Brent received a purple heart, along with many other honors.

Brent married Chelsea Fulton, they later divorced. He then married Chantilly Buhrman, they later divorced.

After the army, he returned to Idaho Falls where he worked for Blake Cook, a subcontractor for Rockwell Homes.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Brent enjoyed being in the outdoors. He spent his spare time fishing, hunting, camping, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling and dirt biking. His favorite moments were spent with family and friends playing games, hosting BBQ’s and floating the river. His proudest moments were spent with his daughter Gwen. No matter what they were doing together, playing games or watching movies, he just enjoyed being with her. He kept in touch with his Army buddies and spent time talking to them throughout the years.

He was a big-hearted teddy bear who was always willing to help family and friends. He loved to laugh and have a good time. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughter, Gwen Chesler-Thueson of American Falls, Idaho; his mother, Liz Thueson of Idaho Falls, Idaho; his sister, Stephanie (Colton) Ricks and nephews: Ridge and Rhett Ricks of Idaho Falls, Idaho; his grandparents, Kelel and Della Thueson of Idaho Falls, Idaho; his Aunt, Cheryl (Curt) Schiffman of Idaho Falls, Idaho; cousin, Chris (Rachel Blew) Schwarz and Lukah Schwarz and Cali Bieker all of Moscow, Idaho; cousin Eric Schwarz of Logan, Utah; Uncles: Ron Kerscher and Robert Kerscher both of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; his grandpa, Alfons R. Kerscher of Lethbridge, Alberta Canada.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis K Thueson; grandparents: Stella and Lloyd Cherry, Alice and Paul Thueson and Trudy Kerscher.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 9, 2019, at the Westhill Ward, 2040 Brentwood Dr., Idaho Falls with Bishop Robert Neibert officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 8, 2019, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Another visitation will be held from 10:00-10:50 a.m., prior to services at the church. Interment will be at approximately 3:00 p.m., at Teton-Newdale Cemetery in Sugar City where military rites will be performed.
