K.C. Sparks, 50, of the 3000 block of Southwest 23rd Street died of a heart ailment Saturday at home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Southtown Funeral Home. Cremation will follow services, with burial of the remains at a later date.
Mr. Sparks was born in Waterloo and had lived in Indianola before moving to Des Moines in 1974. He was a truck driver with Iowa EPS Products, a member of the Army Reserves, Teamsters Union and Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by daughter Andria Allsup of St. Charles; his mother Beverly Sparks of Indianola; two brothers, Ronald of Des Moines and Dan of indianola; two sisters, Linda Michaels of Newnan, GA., and Cindy Mayfield of Indianola and a grandchild.
Ken Sparks was a kind and genuinely funny guy when you got to know him. i had such a good time visiting with him at our 10th and 20th Class Reunions, and he gallantly stepped in, when I was a "damsel in distress" at our 20th . . .
