What have you been up to since graduation?
I grad. from Simpson in 1974. While at Simpson I continued to play baseball with Gary Baker & Rick Lathrum. There maybe others from the Big I but it was the 70's my memory was foggy at best. The next 2 yrs. I attended Iowa Luth Hosp. School of Rad. Tech. In 1976 I took a job as an x-ray tech in Lander, Wyoming. Got married to Karen , a Simpson grad. Lived in Lander for just over 1 yr. Loved the mountains, skiing and low humidity. Next we moved to Iowa City, I went to a orthpaedic physicians assistant program. Took a job in St. Paul, Mn. with a large orthopaedic clinic. Worked there for 5 1/2 yrs. In 1985 I was offered an opportunity to start a orthopaedic practice with a surgeon from the U of Mn. in Spirit Lake. While living in the Twin Cities Matt was born in 1980 and Ben in 1984. Matt was born with a very serious heart defect and had heart surgery before he was 1 day old. I often think to myself what if Matt was born in Lander, Wy.? I fear what the outcome would have been--not good. The big cities do have their advantages! The move to Spirit Lake worked out great. The clinic was very busy and we were 60 miles from Storm Lake, where Karen grew up. Matt and Ben saw their grandparents frequently during the summer and fall. The best although was when we visited them in where Florida home in the winter. Matt and Ben both graduated from the U of Iowa. Ben did post grad. studies at Drake. Matt still lives in Iowa City and is a big fan of the Hawkeyes and Cubs. In 2004 I took a job with Stryker Orthopaedics. My main function is covering total joint surgeries and revision cases. I also cover major trauma cases where IM nailings are preformed. Thats about it from Okoboji wish I could be there for the reunion but I've got another obligation that over rules !! Have a great time!! Bob
