Tim Gesner

I attended JBS for only two years - for sixth and seventh grades. Don't truly remember much about it, so if anyone has any good stories from then to help me remember, I would appreciate hearing them. My family moved back to Oregon, where I graduated from High School and eventually went into the Army as an Aircraft Electrician, working on helicopters. I was in for five years and when I got out, I moved to Nevada to work with a friend of mine from High School, starting an internet business and managing a computer store for a while. I also got married at age 25 - divorced at 30, plus went to college at Southern Utah University for four years in cedar City, UT at that time. After my divorce, I met Georgia, started a long-distance relationship where I would drive six hours ever weekend to see her here in California, and then six hours home. We were married March 10, 2001 and that's when I moved to Riverside to start my family. I've been working as a Network Administrator here for the last eight years with the same company. My son, Jacob, is now seven, and about a year and a half ago, we became foster parents and now have three more really good kids! I attend church at Magnolia Avenue Baptist church, here in Riverside, and I also have a step-son, Danny, who is 24 and living at home right now (rough times because of the economy) and my step-daughter who is married, and my 3-year-old granddaughter, Madison - who we see every day. I read as much as possible (mostly science fiction, fantasy & mysteries) but the kids keep me busy. We've also taken in my mother-in-law, who is now 87. Full house!

So was it sixth grade or seventh when we did the school trip? That's probably the one thing I remember best about Jackson Baptist - that and the school song, which I still sing from time to time. ?? so I remember we went to a botanical garden, we went to a fort and got to make musket balls, run a simple printing press and try on the British uniforms. They did a small reenactment and shot the muskets. Then I remember going to Boblo Island (I think that's what it was called). I had lots of fun but I seem to remember it felt like we were only there an hour or two. I remember the mirror-maze and the fact that I was too scared to go on the dumpy little roller coaster. I also remember going on the paddle wheel and someone trying to buy a small beer (with half the alcohol) because we were in Canada and it was legal if you were over 12. Don't know if they succeeded, but I did buy a kazoo and a popgun and proceeded to annoy everyone with them. That, and going to the Henry Ford Museum and the old time area where we bought rock candy and saw them making wool and the blacksmith. Lots of fun. All my other memories have to do with racing toy riding cars in the top floor of Robb Riner's(sp?) building, climbing on the roof of my building, snow sledding, my paper route (I was horribly slow, but got to go in a bar!) and stuff like that.
