Dan West VIEW PROFILE

Dan West

Dan was the heart of this 50th reunion.  Actually, he was the heart of everything he touched.

He always said his ideal way to go would be suddenly and on a golf course and that's exactly how and where he left us on August 27, 2011.

I feel so blessed to have known Danny. Right now I am feeling so sad, but hopefully we can have the best reunion Terry Parker has ever had in his honor.

So sorry to hear of Danny's death.  It's a sad day, indeed.  Danny was one of my boyhood friends that filled my life with countless fond memories.  From riding my bike to his house and jumping over the fence to Ronnie Love's house, to car pooling in Doug Brown's '55 Olds with Doug Pierce to two-a -day football practices in the heat to August, to winning the Gateway Conference football championship and watching No 51 tear holes in the line so the running backs could get their name in the paper, to his unceasing smile and warm personality, Danny will surely be missed.  And those us who were blessed to have shared his life are better off for having known him.  See ya on the other side, Danny.

Since the 3rd or 4th grade at Arlington Elementary, Dan or Danny as we called him then was always one of those that we looked up to.  As we moved away after our 10th grade year, I lost track of so many including Dan, but today the notes I have read about him testify to the great man that he became.  He will be greatly missed by his family and his many, many friends.  Dan, your memory will long be with those many friends you have left behind.  God bless you.

I am shocked and saddened to hear of Danny's passing.  We go back to the 4th grade, in Mrs. Downing's class.  We were patrol boys together at Arlington Elementary. He was such a great guy, and certainly was one of the folks I was looking forward the most to seeing at the reunion.

Danny West was the sweetest and most generous man I have ever known. He always listened, looked for the positive and could make you feel like a million bucks. I loved laughing with him. I am so grateful to have had him in my life, only too short. I will truly miss him. Jan Ertmann Foster

A great friend, classmate, and teammate.  I am very fortunate he was there when I was there.

I just learned of Dan's passing when we returned tonight from being away.  What a shock.  Cia and others have expressed the feelings of sadness we feel and the joy he brought into so many of our lives.  I enjoyed exchanging notes with him recently related to the reunion and I could tell how much he was looking forward to it.  May God bless Dan and his family.

I knew Danny since grammar school at Arlington Elementary and lived a few doors away.  I remember all the fun we had as kids playing ball in his cul-de-sac with Ronnie Love, Ken Leonardi and others.  I remember Danny's bulldog Major getting loose all the time and terrorizing the neighborhood.  Danny was always a great guy and will be missed by all of us who knew him.
