Bob transferred from Lee High School to Terry Parker High School in 1960 and graduated with us. He joined the family business after graduation and was president of Pitman Produce for many years. We were married in 1963 and had 3 children and 6 grandchildren. Fishing in the Bahamas, Golfing in St. Andrews, Scotland and a safari in Australia were highlights of his hobbies. Trips to Atlanta were becoming more frequent because of children and grandchildren so we moved to Lake Oconee (1 hour from Atlanta) in 2007. He began treatment shortly before we moved and continued at Emory University where he received a stem cell transplant. To his friends he was "amusing" but to his family he was "amazing".

I met Bobby Pitman when we entered our senior year at Terry Parker.  He was one of my few BFFs before we even knew what BFFs were!  We spent a lot of time together and packed a lot of living and memories in the 10 months between September '60 and June '61, where each month seemed like a year.  Don't remember any bad times, but we sure had some good times, plenty of fun times and although we wouldn't have admitted it then, a couple of scared times.  Bobby could always be counted on for a contagious, albeit somewhat mischievious smile, and you just knew he was up to something.  We lost touch after I enlisted in the Air Force in July '61, and we only met one other time after that; the 15th class reunion in 1976, where neither of us thought the other had changed much.  Over the years I've thought of Bobby often; I'll never forget him, he was one of a kind!
