I am deeply stunned and saddened to hear of this.  Scott was a good friend and would always take the time to talk with me when so many others would not.  Living in AZ I've been out of the loop, so I had no idea he was ill, or any of the circumstances surrounding his passing.

I pray that his entire family, friends and loved ones can find peace in the knowledge that Scott is with Our Father, and looking down upon us all.  I will keep Scott and his entire family in my daily thoughts and nightly prayers.

May Our Dear Lord grant him peace and tranquility in his new home; in a place of light, a place of green pastures, in a place of refreshment; where all pain, sorrow or suffering have fled away.

One day we shall meet again, Scott, and I look forward to recalling old times and sharing the true gift of God's love as friends in heaven for eternity.

Your Friend,

Tony Y.

Paul Makovich I am so sorry to her about Scott. I asked about him at the last reunion and heard he was really sick. Scottt and I were runner-ups 2 years in a row when we were 17-18. Out of 64 or so teams, we were one of the few 'white boy' teams.

Every park in the city had a 2 on 2 tournament....with the winners from each park going to a 'city' championship tournament. Scott and I represented Bruce Park in Arlington. Scott was our 'big' man at 6'2" - I was the guard. For a 6'2" white guy that could not really jump, Scott was a very solid player and did a great job against taller players - some 6'5" or so. He definitely used his brains.... he was a heck of a ballplayer. I will never forget that time. He will be missed.

I am so saddened to hear of Scott Matchett's passing.  I have so many wonderful memories of him in class and as an athlete.  He was such a kind friend.  Scott was an amazing classmate and graduate from Terry Parker!  My condolences go out to his loving family.  This news is heartbreaking.  My husband also has great memories of Scott.  He coached against Scott and found him to be a great competitor and a fine coach.

With love and respect,

Janice Stafford Rhodin

Scott was one of my very favorite friends from Ft. Caroline Elementary School through Terry Parker High School.  I remember all the girls had a crush on Scott including me.  He excelled in everything he did.  I have nothing but fond memories of Scott and always will.  He was the best.

With much love and respect,

Julie Green Smith

Twenty years ago this summer! Great photo of Scott Matchett and Elaine Jones. Scott graduated as the greatest athletic to ever attend TPHS and later played basketball at FSU. Scott passed away in 2012 and since the last time we gathering in 2010, 11 other class mates have passed away. We will have a word of prayer for our fallen class members at our July reunion.
