Michael McCullough

Michael Hugh McCullough (38) of Huntersville, NC died on May 30, 2019. Born December 19, 1980 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, Michael was a lifelong baseball player and engineer.

Always a natural athlete, he could play any position on the baseball field, with a preference for pitcher, shortstop, and later outfield. His athleticism kept him playing baseball his whole life; and he also enjoyed running as an adult, completing his first marathon in March of 2019. As a child, he was known for taking things apart so he could figure out how things work. His curiosity and love of learning technical things was a lifelong passion. His persistence for understanding mechanics and doing things correctly was also present in his woodwork creations.

Michael graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1999. After high school, Michael served The Lane Construction Corporation as the Assistant Corporate Survey Manager. He was an excellent innovator many times creating improvements to the cutting-edge software used by the teams he led. He was always ready to help others in the Company, he was a great mentor and brilliant problem solver with vast knowledge in many aspects of heavy construction and everything digital. His quiet and unassuming manner coupled with his passion for solving difficult problems with superior solutions inspired all who had the privilege to work with him. At Lane, his coworkers were a second family.

The greatest joy in his short life was the family he had with his wife, Tiffany Crowe. Being a father was what he aspired to be, and his love for his children was beyond measure. An amazing and brilliant man, he will be sorely missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Tiffany Crowe, of Huntersville; children, Daphne June McCullough (5) and Elliot Rowan McCullough (2); parents, James and Laura (Harrington) McCullough of Henderson, NC; sisters Emily McCullough (Michael Fry) and Molly (McCullough) Ortiz (Eric Ortiz); both grandmothers, Nancy Harrington and Roberta McCullough; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family will be dedicating a memorial bench to the Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation Department at https://www.gofundme.com/33ku7-memorial-bench-and-tree.
