The Future!
Several Grads convinced me that this website should be kept. Stan and I have devoted a lot of time and effort to remembering the great times we have shared at Jamaica High. When some people wax nostalgic they get a warm feeling in their heart and soul, while others are totally indifferent. As with all things in life, there has to be balance. Unfortunately, the idea for another Reunion this March did not come to fruition, but we can't dwell on the past as we must look to the future. With everyone's help we can turn this Board into an online meeting place that will keep the flames of our youth burning and keep connecing old friends, and new friendships alike. For myself there is a certain comraderie when you meet people that you didn't know in school, but meet each other in the city you are presently in. I have reconnected and have become good friends with grads here in Florida that were either in different grades or because the school was so large never met. A difference in a year or two in age back then, makes no difference now. So, lets move forward! Now that this site is not about Reunions specifically anymore, we can change the format to include whatever discussions are pertinent to our lives and interests. Health issues, Movies, Music, Sports, Relationships, the list goes on and on, and the software of this Site is very flexible. We also have online chat, and a link to Facebook.
This is the deal Stan and I will make with all of you. Get your fellow grads to participate, log on at least once every two weeks, tell us how we can improve this site. Your feedback is essential to the success of the site. We will give the site another year, and if we see that there is interest we will continue funding it and working on it.
We also have the class lists from '59 '60 '61 & '62. We will now welcome all classes from the 50s & 60s. If you know the whereabouts of any grad or their email address, please pass it along to us and we will contact them. You can also do that yourself by using the link on the Home Page.
I also want to remind all of you that we have an additional web page, Jamaica High School Reunion, on Facebook. Facebook would be a great way to find grads. Presently, I have posted a very interesting history of Jamaica High School, that was sent to me by a local resident.
