I started out with the Class of '66, but took out a year to do a Medical B.Sc in Physiology and Physiological Chemistry (a wonderful year). So, I ended up graduating in 1967, but maintained my connections with the colleagues I had started out with.

US Board Certified in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.

I have had only one job since I completed training- Yale full time faculty.

After 42 years on the faculty at Yale, I retired as Professor of Pediatrics in June 2015. My position involved clinical work in the Neonatal ICU, administrative responsibilities as section chief from 1982 till 2012 and research into fetal lung development using fetal lung organ culture as the experimental model. I directed the NIH funded neonatal postdoctoral fellowship program at Yale for 30 years.
My research lab was funded by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and the American Heart Association.

During my preclinical years I was mentored by a number of outstanding teachers including Profs. Paul Levy and Philip Tobias.
The clinical training at Wits was absolutely outstanding. Exposure to a diverse patient group, assumption of significant clinical responsibilities as medical students, but most of all the teaching by dedicated clinician-educators in the lecture theatres and and at the bedside gave me advantages that stood me in good stead my entire career.

Yale Alumni Service Corps. Have traveled to Cape Town twice with this group to work in schools in Philippi.

I live on the ocean and enjoy kayaking on Long Island Sound. I am trying to get my golf game to a level where I won't be embarrassed to play with friends - or my grandson.
I have always been interested in photography and have taken a course at the International Center of Photography. I actually sold 2 photographs at a Medical School exhibit.
