Sad news, I had been trying to find him for the Reunion, wihtotu success. Presumably he was ill, I did discover he retiredfrom Pathology last year, and his Facebook page was full of family photos.

I have fond memories of a friendly, generous, smart guy, always with a smile!

Dennis was a groomsman at my wedding- he was smart happy, generous quick witted. I remember him opening a packet of crisps at lunch time surrounded by many friends. He felt that the crisps could not go around so he cruched the packet very firmly , opened the packet , and said "have  a crisp"!!!!

Those in contact with his family please pass on my condolences. RIP my pal.

Dennis & i grew up in Brakpan in the same street. We were very close friends as kids. He was always very bright. This may explain why he was such a lousy soccer player. i always had him as full back; but he was usually surprised by any attack on our goal as he was busy drawing some abstract patterns in the sand of our school football field.

I was 2 years ahead of him at school but he caught me up when I was not accepted into medicine at Wits until I had completed a biology BSc. We were thenthus  in the same 2nd year anatomy group together with Alec Khoury & Aldo Serafini.

My last contact with him  was a few years ago whn I managed via google to trace him in Pittsburgh. A very happy telephone call ended with an intended visit to us in Holland, as his partner was an art museum director. Unfortunately the visit never materialised; & I now know why my repeated calls to his office to get him to the reunion were never answered.

Another class mate from the East Rand. A lovely man - exuberant at times, booming occasionally, always fun to be around, especially when he waxed deeply intellectual. He was on a respirator with Guillain-Barre syndrome with bulbar involvement as a young intern (I think he was doing six months of surgery at the time). I tell that story to my residents because it was an event that had an indrect effect on me going into surgery. Condolences to his family.

Dennis was a delightful fellow student who always saw the best in people. A loyal friend - we did some crazy things together when he lived with me and my parents prior to our exams (I think finals) for a couple of weeks. Unfortunately we weren't in touch after leaving medical school, but I often wondered about him. A funny, clever and unassuming guy whom everyone liked.

Please pass on my condolences to his family.
