William F. Wood, 76, of Terryville, died peacefully on Wednesday November 20th at home surrounded by his family after a courageous 3 ½ year battle with leukemia. He was born in St. Mary's, Pennsylvania and raised in Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania. After serving 4 years in the Air Force he returned to the U.S. and worked at New Departure Hyatt, Bristol in quality control for 30 years. He attended Central Connecticut State College. After retiring Bill worked for John Clyma Painting Co. for ten years. He was the son of the late Francis and Anna (Sekelsky) Wood. He belonged to Immaculate Conception Church, Terryville. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 1090 Council of Terryville and the American Legion. Bill is survived by his wife Deanna (Hadley) Wood and his four children, Marcy Hogan of Somers, CT, Christine Gerlier and her husband Martin of Bangkok, Thailand, Heather Wood of Ridgefield, CT and his son William J. Wood and his wife Elizabeth of Southington, CT.; his brother, Norbert Wood of East Hampton, CT; his six grandchildren, Hunter, Tristan, Hadley, Lillian, Benjamin and Lola. He was predeceased by a sister, Sister Naomi Wood Funeral services will be held 11AM on Monday at the Immaculate Conception Church, Terryville. Burial with military honors will be in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit at the Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St., Terryville on Monday from 9AM until leaving for church.
