Nathan Henry

Nathan Henry

Nathan Macale Henry died May 20, 2003 at the age of 33.  Nathan was born December 12, 1969, in West Plains, MO.  After graduating from Turner High School, he completed automotive and diesel programs at UTI in Phoenix, AZ.  He was employed at Ford Motor Company for the last 10 years and was a member of Local Union #249. Nathan was a self-taught guitar player and wrote song lyrics and poems. He was a generous person who would share whatever he had.  His family and friends will remember him for his fantastic laugh, his love of top water bass fishing, and his incredible depth of knowledge that came from extensive reading.

I attended UTI with Nathan along with Jimmy Kincheloe. Nathan was a good person and a good friend. Jimmy and I lived with Nathan as roommates while attending school in Phoenix. Jimmy and I used to torment Nathan while he played music on his guitar. He would often write songs about how he couldn't stand us, which was pretty funny. I was shocked and saddened to hear from my brother that Nathan had passed.

I travel to Phoenix every year for training and I always travel nearby the apartment complex where the three of us lived. This apartment was our first home away from home. It's located in a not-so-good neighborhood and it is truly scary to think we lived there. However, we had some good times and that's what I always remember.

I met Nathan in our senior year in auto shop. What stands out the most in my memory was working with Nathan in Lenheim's auto shop class on a seemingly endless project of getting a broken down van running again. Who else remembers him bringing his mother's car into the shop every Monday morning to wash away the evidence of the past weekend? I would sometimes go to Nathan’s house after school to practice playing guitar with him. He definitely had his own style of play! Nathan was a good guy and good friend to anyone that knew him. I was also shocked and saddened to hear of his passing.
