I knew Roxanne more from church than school. We both sang in the choir at Unity Temple on the Plaza. It saddens me that she died early.

Roxie was my only friend at school.  We did the musicals together.  I was a witness at her wedding and was in her life for about one year after graduation at which time my husband and I moved to Des Moines IA.  I lost track of Roxie.  It wasn't until 2000 that I found out she was dead.  She was a great girl.  A lovely singing voice.  I have missed her for all these years and hope to see her in Heaven for surely she will be there.

Roxanne went to UMKC.  she used to hang out in the student center occasionally with a group called the 7th circle of ishtar that I also belonged to, a loose agglomeration of pretty disparate people whose main function was to sit in an area in the lounge that the members could use to stash their stuff so they didn't have to take everything to class.  She was a bit wild, once wearing a pantsuit to class, and on a dare, wearing only the top while walking around the student center. It was a long top, but a very, very short dress.  She was likeable, and fun.

She lived with her grandmother, and she used to talk a lot about this guy who lived in the neighborhood who had a Corvette.  She used to prank the car by writing stuff on it, either with soap, or in any dirt on the car, and told us she was going to marry him.  She did.  I remember reading later that he was the owner of the first hi-quality color copier in town, and had been arrested for trying to pass copied hundred dollar bills in unsavory places. (actually, his father, also involved in Roxanne's murder, owned the copier).

I also read later that he was convicted of her murder, also associated with attempted insurance fraud. If you are interested in the gory details, try this: http://law.justia.com/cases/missouri/supreme-court/1980/61695-0.html, which is the record of the appeal of her husband of his conviction for her murder.
