I've wanted to post something on Kay's page for a while but was trying to pinpoint when exactly she died. I know that it was over 25 years ago because I still had not had my son and I was still working in my uncle & Dad's office.
Kay had advanced Diabetes and slowly through time lost her vision. Every time she came to the office she had a big smile on her face and never showed any signs of self pity or sadness about her deteriorating condition. It became increasingly difficult for me to see her when her sight was gone because I was afraid I would cry or she would sense that I was sad. She had a special sense though and without me saying a word, she knew I was behind the front counter and would say, "Oh Gladys, I'm so glad I get to "see" you today". Kay was a special person and lost her battle when she was much too young but she taught me a lot about life and how to take each day and make the best of it.
